Dave Arneson's 64th Birthday at the Brooklyn Strategist

Each year since Dave Arneson passed away in 2009, fans have gathered to celebrate his memory by rolling dice, playing role-playing games, and having a great time.
According to Dave's daughter Malia Weinhagen, "The biggest thing about my dad's world is he wanted people to have fun in life. I think we get distracted by the everyday things you have to do in life and we forget to enjoy life and have fun. But my dad never did. He just wanted people to have fun."
October 1, 2011 would have been Dave Arneson's 64th birthday. We hope you'll join us that day in celebrating his life and times by having fun at the Brooklyn Strategist from 9 am until 11 pm. All ages are welcome, and the event is free to the public.
The Brooklyn Strategist: Fun and Board Games for NYC Kids and Families

We were featured on MommyPoppins.com and here’s what they had to say about us:
My son fell in love with the strategy sessions at The Brooklyn Strategist during summer camp. His fellow gamers were equally enthusiastic, and I talked to many parents who said their kids were waking up before dawn, excited to go play with their friends. Here are some of the really cool games you and your kids can play at The Brooklyn Strategist.
The Brooklyn Strategist is more than a retail shop or a gaming club, although it serves as both, and Jon isn't your typical game geek. He's a dad, a licensed clinical psychologist and a former neuroscience researcher. He strives to create an atmosphere of fair play, and knows how to handle cheaters and bad sports. There's lots of laughter in the air and few meltdowns. Jon makes sure the emphasis is on making friends and having fun, not necessarily winning.
Things to do on the weekend for $10 or less
Time Out New York mentioned The Brooklyn Strategist as one of their favorite things to do for $10 or less in New York City. Check it out...

97. Board games at the Brooklyn Strategist
Welcome to your next rainy-day activity: playing one of 150 board games, including rare and out-of-print diversions such as Machiavelli, Yacht Race and the original Railroad Tycoon. Bring your friends in the evening to avoid being schooled by a child, or drop by and speak to founder Jon Freeman, who will help put a game together for you—the club recently held what was purportedly the first Strat-o-Matic Baseball tournament in Brooklyn since the mid-’70s."
388 Atlantic Ave between Bond and Hoyt Sts, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn
